The earliest known Greens of the “hinterglas” ilk were done in the mid-90s and mainly for fairly informal purposes. The medium suggested itself again during the winter of 2020-2021 when more elaborate or larger scale pieces would have constituted too much of a burden on a locked down studio space… And interestingly, a lot of images flitting about on Green’s desk suddenly proved far more amenable to this medium than drawing or painting (see the forthcoming page on his “Elasmos” – works painted on hammered metal). In all, in that winter Green created some 60 works, varying from A4 size to 40 x 30 cm, many of them documented in a fine catalogue:
